If you're a fan of feel-good films that tug at the heartstrings, Nonna's is a must watch.
If you are of Italian heritage, this movie will really take you back. In made-for-Hallmark-like fashion, it delivers a sweet, sentimental story that reminds us of the importance of family, tradition, and love, all served around the dinner table. Based on a true story, the film carries an authenticity that makes it all the more touching.
What really elevated the experience for me was the all-star cast. Legends like Lorraine Bracco, Susan Sarandon, Brenda Vaccaro, and Talia Shire each portrayed their characters with signature styles that have always made these actors scene stealers. Each performance felt genuine and grounded, bringing warmth and charm to every scene. The chemistry among the actors made the story even more believable—and lovable.
But here’s where it gets a little personal. Nonna’s was filmed in a building that holds special meaning for me professionally. I was actually the real estate broker who listed and sold the property and business where the iconic Spirito’s restaurant operated for 88 years, up until 2020, right in the heart of Elizabeth, NJ. Seeing that familiar space brought to life on screen was surreal and added a unique layer of nostalgia to the viewing experience. I was glued to the screen for the entire film, and riveted by scenes of the restaurant before and after renovations.Â
Nonna’s is more than just a movie—it’s a comforting reminder of the bonds that shape us. And for me, it was also a beautiful intersection of personal history and heartfelt storytelling. I highly recommend it!
Home is everything and I can help you get there.
